Storm Damage In Greenwich Park

If you live anywhere in the UK you'll have no doubt had some experience or issue with the recent weather. The news outlets are full of parts of the UK without power, horrific flooding which has affected many parts of the country, Devon and Somerset in particular have been severely affected. What those people must be going through is terrible.

In comparison us Londoners have been relatively lucky, Ok I know parts of Woolwich & Charlton flooded when the Thames barrier was closed. But let's face it we have got off lightly. Imagine what London would be like if we didn't have the barrier?

Greenwich has suffered a fair bit of damage over the last few months. We had the hurricane in November which took down lot's of local trees, roof slates (my roofs just been repaired) the garden fence is still laying between mine and the neighbours. After last weekends storms there is yet more damage around. In Burney street a chimney piece blew off of Maribor House landing on a woman's car whilst she was in the car, luckily she escaped unhurt.

So last Monday as the weather was reasonable for once I thought it'd be a good day to go for a wander around the park and see how badly it got damaged. Walking around most of the park seemed to get away lightly. Then I realised the flower gardens were still closed with this notice

Walking along the perimeter fence the damage done was clearly visible.

Homeless Squirrels, so sad

Then just across from the flower gardens was this which I named Crow Lake......
Continuing my walk along I came to the infamous steep dip, which I usually quite enjoy climbing down but on seeing the mud thought I'd probably get stuck down there. Sadly one of the big trees is no more.
Panoramic shot of the fallen tree.....
