Books About Town - The Greenwich Trail

If you've been around London at all over summer chances are you'll have come across some rather odd looking benches springing up all over the city.
These odd book shaped benches are the work of the National Literary Trust and Wild In Art. Each book bench has been designed by a local artist and professional illustrators. Each book bench represents a book which has some reference to London.
In October the book benches are being auctioned off to raise money for the National Literary Trust. more information can be found on the Books About Town Website: http://www.booksabouttown.org.uk/

On the website you'll find four trails to follow in different areas to locate the book benches. The trails are in Bloomsbury, City, Riverside and Greenwich.

Yesterday as it was a nice warm sunny day I decided to do the Greenwich Trail. Don't be fooled it is a tough trek and when I completed it I felt like I'd run a mini marathon. Especially with my other half slowing me down.

Here are the fabulous book benches to be found on the Greenwich Trail.

The Hitchhikers Guide To The Galaxy

A Dictionary Of The English Language

On The Species Of Origin

Girl Engrossed

Samuel Pepys Diary

The Railway Children

The Canterbury Tales

Captain Scott's Last Expedition

The Time Machine

The Jungle Book

Elmer The Elephant

We're Going On A Bear Hunt

The whole trail took us 2 hours 10 minutes to complete, including a quick break by the river for lunch. It really was a good day out. I'm planning on squeezing in the other three trails now. The books are on the streets of London until September 15th 2014 so get in quick if you want to catch them before they go.
